Sergey Malinin is an outstanding pianist with an impressive record of achievements and teaching experience. Born in Yoshkar-Ola, Russia, he received his Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and post-graduate degrees from the prestigious Kazan State Conservatory in Russia, his Master of Music degree from the famous Ecole Normal de Musique de Paris founded by distinguish pianist Alfred Cortot and also his Master’s and post-graduate degrees from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in NYC.
Sergey made a name for himself during his studies on the piano competition circuit, earning the Grand Prix in the International Piano Competition held in Paris, top prize-winner at the 3rd Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition held in Moscow. He also earned diplomas for his top placements at other competitions including the Safonov All-Union Piano Competition held in Kazan, Russia, the San-Remo International Piano Competition held in Italy, and the Guerrero International Piano Competition held in Spain. In addition to his many awards and honors, Sergey has participated in preeminent ensembles including a performance at the XII International Piano Festival in Spain as well as performances with the distinguish maestros including David Gilbert, Nikolai Rogotnev, Ivan del Prado, and Vladimir Ziva, to name a few.
Sergey began his distinguished teaching career in 1999 as an instructor at the Yoshkar-Ola Music College in Russia. In 2001, he began instructing students at the Kazan State Conservatory. In 2006, he was hired as a faculty member at The Music Institute of Long Island where Sergey has taught a numerous amount of students ranging from very young to adults. His students regularly participate in music festivals and competitions winning top prizes and honors.
