Ivy Adrian, piano instructor of over thirty years, enjoys teaching students of all ages. Having begun study at age six, she was taught to play from the heart and to sing the melody of a piece to learn how it will speak through the piano. With the discovery that in practice every technical challenge has a musical solution she found great joy in the learning process. Her experience as performer and composer enriches her piano lessons with tips for performance, theory exercises, compositional games, and anecdotes. She adjusts her method to suit the individuality of each student.
Ms. Adrian completed the pre-college division of Manhattan School of Music. She received her B.A. in Music from Barnard College College and Masters degree in piano performance from The Aaron Copland School of Music. Certificates of Chamber Music study she earned with The Alaria Chamber Ensemble at Mannes College and The European Mozart Academy In Poland.
