How Many Voice Lessons Should I Take Per Month?

Whether you are enrolling your son or daughter for their first experience or you are perfecting your pitch after years to practice, voice lessons can be one of the best investments you make. If you are looking for voice lessons, NYC providers offer some of the best access. Not only will you get to work one-on-one with well qualified professionals, but you can choose how often you want to come in for the experience. Ultimately, how many sessions you get is dependent on your unique needs. However, there are some concerns you should keep in mind as you try to decide what steps to take.

How Much Time Can You Devote?
Generally, voice lessons in NYC will provide you with about an hour’s worth of communication and work with an instructor at a time. Working your voice for more than this could put you at risk for injury or limitations in the future. Your instructor will tell you if your sessions should be longer than an hour. However, this is fairly standard in the industry.

The question you have to ask, then, is how much time can you devote to the process? Do you want to come in five days a week for an hour each day? Is there enough flexibility in your schedule for that number of experiences? You’ll need to consider how much time you want to invest in the process along with your budget concerns, if any. Then, you can consider a few more things.

What Else You Need to Consider Before Signing Up
Now that you know about your time and budget concerns, consider the following before making your decision about how frequently to obtain voice lessons in NYC.

• What does your instructor recommend? This is important because some people may need more frequency to work and develop their skills especially when just starting out.
• What risk is there for you to damage your voice through exertion? Just like a sports injury, those who have had concerns in the past are more likely to struggle with further limitations going forward.
• How committed are you? You’ll want to think about what you have coming up and what types of performances you want to take on. You’ll also want to really gauge how much commitment you have to the process.
• Can you work on any skills at home? Though working one-on-one with a voice teacher is the ultimate goal, you may be able to reduce the number of lessons you need by doing some work at home.
Ultimately, you may benefit from two lessons a week. On the other hand, if you are dedicated and ready to work hard, you may want to come in three, four, or even more times a week. Some people just enjoy a single lesson a week or four per month. Work with your instructor to determine what the best overall arrangement is for your unique needs and your specific goals.
